If you have a MacBook with a Retina display screen (pretty standard equipment these days, but not with the older MacBooks) you can expect to spend between $455 and $755 replacing the screen completely at the Apple Store.

However, when searching for my iMac's specs, it took me to a support page and it told me I was still under warranty (until June 26th). I'm handy and have replaced hard drives on older iMac's before so I'm confident I could do it myself. I can find the part with the toolkit to do it myself on eBay for around $450. I've done some research and found it to cost around $700-$800 bucks to have Apple fix it.

but as you can imagine, the crack is an eyesore. It chipped the upper right corner of the screen and a crack has spread at a 45 degree angle about 6 inches deep toward the middle of the screen. My iMac was the victim of a 3 year old's errant baseball throw.
